Thank you all for a great 2014-15 school year. We hope everyone has a chance to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather over the summer break. Relax, go fishing, spend time with family, travel, and have fun! For online students who will not be continuing with us in the fall we wish you all the best on your journey into the future and for returning students we look forward to working with you again in the new school year.
If you are looking for something interesting to do during the summer months that involves getting outside and enjoying the amazing Northern Saskatchewan environment, why not try geochaching? If you like exploring and adventure with a hint of mystery this might be just the thing for you. The basic idea is that someone hides a sealed box full of small “treasures” in an interesting place that might involve a hike to a scenic location, a boat ride, or take you to a mystery site. The coordinates of the site are recorded and posted online with a description of the geocache. The challenge is to “find” the box of little treasures, pick what you would like to have from the cache and leave behind something for the next person. You record your visit in a log book (found inside the geochache) and when you arrive home, you can record your “find” online to share with other geochachers. There is an app you can download to your phone that will allow you to pinpoint the location of each geocache in your area. If you would like to find out more about geocaching, go to geocaching.com. Sign up and have some fun.
The edcentre.ca team has placed their first geocache in La Ronge. When you are on the geochache site, search for “A Walk In the Park” to get more information about our hidden box of treasures out there in the bush.
